Kefir is much like yogurt. It is a fermented drink that has a tart creamy flavor. Because it is fermented most lactose intolerant people can consume this drink. It is loaded with probiotic health benefits such as: aiding digestion, weight management and mental health. There are also non-dairy options made with things like coconuts and almonds.

  • Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut is also fermented but instead of being milk it is cabbage. Usually chopped up and then fermenting it packs an array of gut benefiting bacteria. Filled with fiber, pro-biotics and vitamins it’s a powerhouse of a gut food. Just be sure to look for some without being pickled in vinegar as it doesn’t have all the same benefits.
